Hey, I was wondering what the best feeder shrimp to breed for larger fish is? What shrimp breed the fastest and grow fast too? I know thats probly not a simple question, but thanks for any info :)

u wouldn't wanna go through the trouble. just buy fresh market shrimp and rinse it well under tap water. saves time and trouble

Freshwater shrimp? ghost/cherry shrimp
Saltwater shrimp? Nope you will need a LARGE breeding pond... lol.

Try hatching brine and raising them to adults. They grow to nearly an inch.

Brine shrimp are idiot proof to hatch, reasonably easy to grow out, and super cheap to buy as eggs.

additionally they will survive for about 6 hours in freashwater, making them GREAT feeders. Fish should not be on a Brine Shrimp only diet though as it is lacking in some vital nutrients.

What size feeders are you looking for? Most dwarf shrimp which breed readily are about an inch in size. You would have to feed alot for them to be considered feeders.

Yep freshwater, and those are the two I guessed Id hear about. Cherry cost more up front, but they are easier to breed, just didnt know if ghosts breed and grew faster or something... Thanks!

Yeah miss wording on my part, more of just a snack/treat, and the fun of catching them (the fish not me ;) ) :)

I got some cherry's from msjinkzd that I breed for snacks. I started with 10, 2 months and 3 days later I can't count them all.
