Ever feel bad when you bought feeders and a few of them make it, just to die or be eaten later?

I bought some feeder Danios a few months back and 2 of them actually made it to 2" but they got eaten by some new tankmates. Almost kind of feel bad since they survived from 1/4" babies to 2" adults.

Its funnier when people have monster goldfish in their tanks because a few never got eaten.

Yeah I felt like this recently. I had some guppies and goldfish that were intended as food. I kept them around for like 2 months, feeding them good, changing their water etc. They got really healthy looking, they looked happy, and soemwhat recognized me after awhile as their care provider. I felt guilty after all this but I still fed them to my fish.

I have a few assorted feeders that are now in a small desktop sorta tank after surviving. But they aren't going anywhere now as one of my cats lays next to the tank all day. They didn't get eaten but they have to deal with the tank being whacked once and a while, haha.

I use to feed baby convicts to my fish. But there was always one smart one that would survive by hiding in the driftwood. Then after a while it would grow too big to be eaten.

I have been putting in 4-5 or feeder guppies a week for my cichlids. One survived for almost a week where they usually last about 5 minutes. I liked him, but he did eventually disappear. I thought this was a sign that maybe given numbers the guppies could survive for a while so I put about 50 feeder guppies in last night. They were all gone this morning...

I had a few goldfish survive, they were pretty fast too. Girlfriend made me move them because she got attached to them. Moved them to an amphibious tank where they lived for a few more weeks. They went MIA and I had a VERY fat toad..

I had some goldfish I used to cycle a tank once. After about 2mo. I added some jd's thinking the jd's would grow faster than the goldfish and then eat them. The feeder goldfish grew as fast if not faster than the jd's. They finnally got killed off after about a year when the jd's mated.

No, because I have never fed "feeders" to any of my fish. I know it's nature that big fish eat little fish but it is something that I will never do. Some of those goldfish are disease invested fish so there is no way I would take a chance on them.

My Jardini lived a very long time eating fresh and dried shrimp and pellets.
