Feeder Tank / Hospital Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah, that would suck

hey sly2k, is your buddy spottin ya a buck or two to raise these fish? or are you doing this outta the kindness of your big heart?

Nah - he and his wife are retired. My reward for this effort is a lifetime pass to fish there whenever I want. It may not sound like much, but that pond is great fishing fun! All kinds of Sunfish, LM Bass, Black Crappies, Blue Channel Cats, and soon - Tiger Muskie!

Salt is a naturaly occuring substance in most ponds anyway and the dosage sly is using certainly doesn't qualify as brackish or salt water. Damn here in the Northeast there is SO MUCH salt runoff from the road chemicals and crap in winter I'm surprised we don't have great white sharks in our ponds! :D

I think given that it's only a 15g - I'm going to start with the recommended dosage that Dr. Fartwell's Salt recommends, and keep it about there. The only way I can figure to really keep this both a Feeder and Hospital tank is to keep some kind of salt content in there.

My Muskies will have healthier food to eat, and I will have peace of mind. BTW - the white spots on the one Tiger do not appear to be Ich. I dunno what their are, but the one I am sure is just a missing scale (probably from one of my crazy Crayfish jumping onto him from a weed up above), and the other one that is on his Pectoral fin is just too big to be Ich. I'm gonna keep an eye on it though.

P.S. I'm not going to put salt or fish in the 15g until it has fully cycled - about 2 weeks I am guessing.

I am following pretty much the same plan buddy. A friend just gave me a 75 gallon octagon tank I am going to put in the corner across from my 210 to use as a feeder quarantine and complimentary showpiece. The stand colors even match!
