feeder tank?

You dont got a test kit? How long has the tank been cycling?

I would go with cherry shrimp as feeders. Thats what I am doing right now. Got a 10 gallon with about 36 shrimp in there now with 2 females holding eggs. I just got it set up about 2 weeks ago. Theyre easy to breed and take care of, they breed often too. These are gonna be snacks for my catfish.

Shrimp are slower and easier to catch, guppies might make it a job for your bichir to catch since bichirs are clumsy eaters.

And mollies are also truly brackish fish ;D

I have a 10g growout/feeder tank and put a 2" senegal and he finished both glass shrimp and feeder guppies, as well as some fancy guppy growouts. He's now almost 4" and about to be moved to my 29g. When he's moved may put some more feeder guppies, but Cherry Shrimp may need to be considered for a future.

Something to add day's before i added the Senegal, i saw about 3 guppy fry in the tank. They were the first to go heh

would like fancy guppies work
then?

They would but it's a waste of nice looking fish IMO, regret i got them to start with as breeders to use as feeders. But when i got feeder guppies and added them to a 29g with the fancies i lost my original 7 fancy guppies. Maybe had 3 females from previous spawns survive.

Got the 10 for growout/quarrantine tank after my losses.

Currently my 29g has all of my guppies with a Convict, RAinbow Cichlid, and 3 Banjo Catfish to keep guppy numbers down. So far only 1 looks to be male guppy has made it since i consolidated all the guppies to one tank. Still very small and can be food for some of the others.
