Curently im feeding my sens wit frozen bloodworms and pellets.. i wanna feed them wit feeders but i need to breed them myself (as everyone had suggested) to make sure that theyre safe. how do you actually breed your own feeders? what type? goldfish? guppies? i dunno about you guys but i like watching predatory fish in action.:headbang2

guppies and or mollies

what i do is put 10-15 live ghost shrimp in the tank with my sen. an when he is not eatin them ther cleanin the tank. so it works both ways.

Interesting... Both are fairly easy to breed, right?

What would you recommend I breed for feeders in either my 29g or 40g? I just want your opinion... It's definately valuable to me. ;)

its really easy to bread the mollies an guppies its your choice tho. i would say guppies since the fry stay near the bottom when ther born. idk anything bout the mollies tho.

Convict Cichlids breed like crazy, and make good feeders.

I would try convicts, but I was thinking something specifically for my 29g or 40g (which the stocklists can be seen in my sig). I don't think cons would work for either.

Convicts only get 5-6" alot of times smaller. 29g or 40g would do them fine.

Not that I've done it before, but I would have thought that a guppy would make a better feeder than a convict?

I only say this because guppies have absolutely no sharp spines and are a convenient torpedo shape, making it easier for bichirs to eat them. A convict of a large enough size to represent a decent meal would be flat, tall, and spiky. Plus, cichlids are quick and smart, while livebearers, are well, livebearers... Bichirs have a hard enough time trying to catch things that move around, let alone something that can bolt under a rock.

That's not the point though. Cons, especially breeding cons, will get far too aggressive for any of my other fish. ;)
