Anyone know where i can get ahold of ALOT of guppies for cheap in the NW? Any Breeders or Farmers? As of right now I am spending 20 dallors everyday on this "FOOD" for my fish. I can't get my Peacock Bass or my Snook or my payara to eat anything else.... maybe a little bit of blood worms but thats about it.... If someone could help me eliminate my problem it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How many are you feeding weekly? What do you pay? If it is under ten cents each shipping will probably make it not worthwhile, you will also probably need to buy in 1000 fish lots. To buy wholesale you will probably need a tax #. A few years ago they were $26 a year in Seattle.

Yeah i have a tax # and business license. i think feeders here are 10 for 1.29 or so. I feed them approx. 500 a week and it costs me about 20 bucks every/other day

have you tryed frozen silver side's??? or krull??? even store bought shrimp ( you can enjoy these with you fish ). to get your fish off live you have to starve then for a spell . try 4 day's ,if your fish are under 5'' go for 2 day's as not to hurt development ... or if you like watching your fish eat live find bigger feeder's to cut back the amount of time's you feed in a week .. even better raise them your self ... either way you go about it you have to be patient . :D

Good luck

How large are your fish? I was able to quickly wein my 6" and 7" peacocks onto frozen krill with just a couple of days of starvation. They didn't eat it with any excitement initially, and they still won't gorge themselves on it like they do with feeders, but now that they are accustomed to it, I can feed both. The krill has had an added bonus of really livening up the orange coloration on the gills as well.

I would first starve them then feed krill, as mentioned, then switch to frozed shrimps bought at your grocery store after a few weeks of krill. That is what mines eat. and for 1.99$ I can feed them a few days...much much cheaper, and much much better for your fish.

Wow thanks alot... they are all babies... about 3 inches as of yet. I was thinking about breeding them. I will try the krill thing very soon, has anyone bred for feeders? i have a 55 gallon square tank I want to try to use to breed. Have any of you succesfully done this and kept at it? and what was your method? would be greatly appreicated! thanks! as of right now i'm just picking out the pregnant ones and tossing them in my hospital tank and gut loading the rest and tossing them in.

We are talking about frozen krill. You have frozen and freeze-dried. I prefer frozen, fish like it better. My only fish getting the freeze dried is my aro since regular frozen krill sinks.

my recomendation would be a 30 to 45 gal or 40gal long tank with 5 to 6 times the amount of filteration to ensure good bio filteration and don't over stock it either .. you may find that convict cichlid's are a popular canidate for a feeder tank due to the ease of breeding of these fish .... :D again you must be patient in the longrun it will payoff...

500 feeders a week for 3" fish wow, how many fish you have? lol!
I think that plankton are good too, they are bigger than mysis shrimp and im pretty sure they are the same in nutrient value.
I get these frozen by hikari.
