Feeders in Quantity?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What I've read several times is to use multiple tanks, and use convicts. Get the parents out right after spawn, and they'll spawn again in 2-4 weeks. You wouldn't need fancy tanks - heck, just get a few rubbermaid 50gal tubs from WalMart and put a HOB filter on 'em.

But you should also try the above stuff and get them to eat things besides feeders.

I will do a search, you can use the 1000 fish lots and even if you pay 8 cents each you will save more than shipping costs.

yeah i found a guy that sells 100 for 9 bucks in 500+ boxes. Pretty good deal but i don't know how big of a tank I would need for.... about 2000 guppies.... i've never seen that many so i have no idea! my little 3 inch fish.... i have 4 of them... and they have all doubled in size since christmas. They eat alot but they growing extremely fast... which is exciting for me. all together i have
2 peacock bass
1 payara
1 red bay snook
1 niger cat (ripsaw)
1 tiger shovelnose (2inches?tiny)
1 godzilla newt
2 fire eels
1 freshwater flounder

I think thats about it..... in a 258 gallon tank. Most excited to see the payara get big and the snook.... they are supposed to get beautiful! I think i might try the cichlid idea.... sounds like a good plan.... oh my girlfriend is going to hate me now!!! She wants a 55gal mollie, guppie, puffer(small fish tank.... maybe i'll steal the babies!!!) she would kill me though... she insists on keeping all the babies... i cant stand it!! Anyways thanks for all the great information and I LOVE MFK! :)

Ok i might have under estimated the size.... i was just thinking... my bass and snook are probably...5 inches and the tiger around 4..... i feel like such a girl right now... LOL....

They are definitely big enough to switch over to krill. One thing that I found really helped with my peacocks was to start tossing the feeders in one at a time so that they became conditioned to the splashing of the surface equating to food. They hit the krill on the very first try. Of course they spit it out right away too, but it only took a couple of days before they were hungry enough to eat it. Good luck!

I started my CK, Aro, TSN, an marble cat on feeders. now I feed them chunks of Tilapia fillet.
