try algea waffers for plecos they don't need it thow and the salt helps but goldfish don't need it either and a bubble filter would be nice but they take up room they don't eat salt it dissolves and you should dissolve it before you add it to the tank just do a %50 water change every few days and they should stay alive take out any dead ones you see and add a parasite remover and wait a couple weeks
and pretty much all fish can cary stuff i've heard guppys carry a nasty little parasite i forgot the name but make sure you keep guppies for atleast a month before feeding them just so you know

I've never heard this before. I'm assuming its just a "better safe then sorry" kind of thing. I bought a dozen of them for $1.25 and threw 2 of them in with my 1foot midas yesterday. He seemed like he was going to eat them at first but they are still in there. Its been a good day and a half now, I think him and the guppies are buddies or something.

Do you think it might be because I separated him and his tanks mates of 2+years within the last week? I think he's lonely and misses the 2convicts and 2jacks I used to keep him with and enjoys the guppies company. I separated them because he beat up my larger jack and I ended up having to euthanize him.

It might just be because I have never given him live food (until now) because I didn't want him to get aggressive with the smaller fish I had in the tank with him.
