Feeders

Wow you are brave for posting about feeders on here. Lol just joking. There is alot of info out there that says feeders are not healthy , im sure you have seen all that already but yeah alot of people have used them with great results and im sure some people have had negative results but in the end it is your fish and feed them whatever you want to. I raised a pair of oscars years ago and fed mainly feeders to them and they did seem to grow fast and appear healthy until a power outage killed them, I have no idea the long term effect of feeding feeders so I cant go there or support it , but it did seem to make them grow faster.

My next live food is crickets. the way i look at it some live food might be fatty, but it does carry alot of protein.

I use crickets , meal worms , live shrimp, crawfish, and guppies, mollies ect. They love it all, especially mealworms, I put the meal worms in old fish food and let them eat that for a few days before feeding them to my fish. I do quarentine any live fish, crawfish, or shrimp first just to be safe.

sa,ca,african. Butti,jd,red devil,jaguar,bubble bee, black convict, texas,flowerhorn,dovi,red terrors,
Any reason why you have to feed all of your cichlids live red rosies? I can understand jaguar and dovi cichlids which are often being predatory toward small fishes. But I do not understand about other cichlids that needs feeder fishes.

Why do u quarantine the inverts? Isn't it true that most (not all) diseases cannot be transferred between inverts, fish, reptiles, amphipans, insects, mammial. That's y I feed my rhom only live tadpoles, frogs, shrimp, crayfish, mice, worms and on very rare occasions larger cichlids

You are probably right on disease transfer but I catch my invertabrates and no telling what they are carrying , im just being safe. Even though a crawfish or shrimp might not be actually infected , it could be carrying a bacteria or parasite that could harm a fish, I have alot of time and money plus I like my fish so I choose to
