i got a really little guy from my lfs im not positive on what species i think he might be a mono.

are blood worms an adequate diet for his size?

Yeah they are and live blackworms are good too. If they dont take it i would feed them guppies i wouldnt starve them at such a small size. Also bump the temp up to 84-87 to keep ich away

Okay, baby Cichla are very prone to ich, I got some small Orinos and they've had it twice now. Its no big deal but you want to speed up the lifecycle of the parasite. Keeping the water warm will keep your little pbass' metabolism up as well as help to prevent ich from attacking it. I would suggest plenty of aeration either though airstones/powerheads. 84-87F are perfectly acceptable temps for these guys when they're small. The last thing you want is for your new cichla to come down with ich and die, so just listen to us on here, we've been where you're at and have learned the lessons that come with raising small Cichla. Now post some pics.

I use bloodworms until they hit a few inches, then switch to krill and pellets.

yes.. i totally agree.. I too just got a Cichla.. not sure it its a mono or orion but in just one week.. he grew a quarter inches...

I normally keep pbass under 10" or so up to 90*.

1.5" may be too small for guppies, live black worms are really expensive.. bloodworms are ok as a primary diet until they get a little bigger and can take other food.

Frozen Bloodworms and Brine Shrimp have worked well for me.
