Feeding 6 inch vatf

Db junkie if u have multiple ones obv not ..... How big are yours how long have u had them?
1 vatf would be fine in a 220...with enough current.... Some of u over estimate tank sizes .... Yes more space would be ideal but it would be fine in that size of a tank with 50x flow .....

I guess there could be two schools of thought. A lot of current in a tight tank or lots of room with less current. Personally I vote for the bigger tank.

My issue was not slamming into the sides rather squabbling among tank mates due to tight confinements. It was not a good sight seeing them couped up and barely able to turn around. As you know these guys are the F1 equivalent of the river. I don't think it's a good environment to keep them in a straight jacket of a tank.

I suppose you could try to keep him in the 220 for life. But keep in mind these guys will jump too. Not as much as Aros but they can get big air. When the tank is tight they will get stressed and one day unpredictably they will just launch themselves. More so if they get startled or water parameters start to deteriorate.

Vatf - 15" and 7"
Tatf- 15", 14" and 8"
Gatf - 11"

Older Vatf is several years old and aquired big, the bigger Ts and G I've grown out from a few inches over the last 2 years, the 7 and 8"ers I've had maybe around a year.

IF it was OK to keep them in these treadmill tanks why do they have such amazing growth spurts and seem so much happier when placed in a larger tank?

I'll tell you what happens with these 50X treadmill tanks - the power cuts, the fish keeps swimming, and you HOPE it lives. IF the current never stopped for any reason they could work, but in real life the current will stop sometime and it may only need to happen once for that fish to have a fatal freak out. Mine would go absolutely nuts when power was cut, so I quit with the treadmill tanks.

The power cutting out for a small amount of time isn't substantial reasoning for not keeping a vatf in a 220 for life ..... That's like saying what if any of your atf decided to jump up hit their head on the lids and die in that split second due to ireversible head damage...... It's a small variable in a short amount of time

I'm surprised the 7 and 8 inchers are still around ..... No cuts nips anything ?

I never mentioned anything along the lines of them not having better growths spurts and are happier in bigger tanks .... Of course they would be .... That's just words ur using to try to justify that a vatf can't live in a 220 for life comfortably

Sorry if it seemed I was implying they died from that, I just remember talking on another thread and you said how it was hard to make much flow in the tank.

What makes you surprised? DB takes great care of his fish. If he raised others to a bigger size and still has them, why couldn't he do the same with these?

How long have you had the gatf compared to the other? I feel like everything I read they seem to have the slowest growth rate on average, but they get the largest, what do you think about that, after keeping them?

I'm done. Lol.

Sounds like you have these things all figured out. Enlighten us all and do what you say you're going to. We'll all be looking forward to your updates.

I never said he diidnt take care of his fish?....Whyi was suprised due to the diff in size I thought surely the smaller ones would get attacked
