I need info on how to feed a BGK

1. very shy (NEVER comes out during the day) 4" BGK

2. a normal 3 1/2" flagtail prochilodus

questions are:

1. what should I feed it (main food and treats)?

2. how should I feed it?

3. how much should I feed it?

Feed it when lights are out and start off with frozen or live worms. After it become familiar with the feeding, then you can try other foods. As they get bigger they get bolder and will even feed from your hand.

I have kept Black Ghost Knives with my Cichlids off and on for many many years...

I currently have a 5+ year old BGK that has lived with Cichlids it's whole life...

I've never done anything special to feed it... It has learned to come out and eat off the surface with my other fish...

In my experience if you baby a fish when it's new, you'll be babying it until it dies... if you let it adapt to your feeding habits, a hungry fish will come and eat...

try some bloodworms, tubifex worms, small frozen shrimp/brine, mysis, and table, as well as just cichlid foods... they have protien - yum yum!

Mine have done great for years eating a staple diet of Cichlid Pellets (NLS, Hikari mostly)

They also love all the typical 'treats' all fish love...

So what I'm hearing is that I should feed as if he were not there (exept add a little more food) and every once in a while give him some bloodworm?
