feeding and water quality

I fed my catfish hot dogs last night and woke up to a cloudy tank, pera meters are good nitrates are a little high so I did a water change and then I noticed Ithat was still cloudy has anyone had this happen before with specifically hot dogs?

Hello; I never tried hot dogs, but did try raw hamburger once decades ago. After a time there were fat globs in the tank. I guess the meat portion was digested, but the fat apparently did not.

My initial guess is that you have a bacterial bloom and some fine bits of the food or oils.

Check ammonia levels right away, it is critical to keep ammonia at zero. I'm guessing you are experiencing a mini cycle.

OK I will it's a 55 gallon and I did 2 5 gallon buckets worth of water change so hopefully anything I did wrong was somewhat corrected by that

feed your cats fish food IMHO, tossing processed meats into your tank is asking for fowl water.

sorry not looking to offend, but processed meat for human consumption should never inter your tank,
no harm no fowl, listen learned, :)
