ok
i have recently revised my feeding regime, to feed spread out through the week. i used to feed heavy, then day off, heavy then day off, instead i spread out the food over the whol eweek instead so the arowana get only a small amount a day.

say, on a heavy feed day, i feed 4 pieces then day off then 2 pieces
Now i do over 3 days. 2 pieces a day, if that makes sense.
so basically eating same quantity but lesser each day over more days.

i am finding that it had a growth spurt when i was doing the old way. itsn now 17 inches. it hasnt had a big spurt.
is this cos of my feeding spread out? or to grow do they need like a binge eating day to really pack it on the weight and size?

i find that after feeding heavy, its not interested in my hand aymore or food.
but since i started my new regime of feeding less over more days, it is ALWAYS alert for my hand and food -

is this a good thing?
opinions owuld be good
or should i feed slightly more over spread out so total is more than i was feeding before?

say i feed 14 pieces a week - 2 a day now.
should i feed 21 pieces, making it 3 pieces a day?

i dont want the arowana to grow tooo slowly and stunt its growth by feeding only a little bit of food a day - i mean to grow to their potential, do they need food to satisfy them and stop following your hand?

I would do 3 pc. a day. If it can eat that much, why not? It's still growing.

my aro is around the same size as yours. i feed my aro every alternate day as much as it can eat. sometimes i feed it everyday for a week and then i go back to feeding alternate days.
there are periods when my aro will eat very little and there are periods when my aros eats a lot. so i let him eat as much as he wants.

cool
so there is no harm in letting the aro eat as much as it wants.
i hav some fish that will literally not stop eating lol too much waste in the water.
but i dont mind, the aro is my centerpiece and getting it fat and huge is my key.

so feeding it as much as it pleases is ok?

You guys don't feed everyday? I feed twice a day... he eats two pellets each time is that too much?

it depends on the size of the aro...small 3 times a day less as it gets bigger....i feed my 19" everyday 2-3 medium shrimp, fillets, insects/pellets, ect...once a day with one day a week as a "cleaning out the system" day...it has maintained around 3" a month for growth...it just slowed to 2" last month...

yeah i was averaging big growth, i slowed its feeding 2 weeks to 3 weeks ago due to waste in the water, but i think its the other fish that needs slowing down in feeding not the aro.

i noticed new growth on the tail and fins, you konw that new tail thats white growing when i used to feed more, but it has stopped in the last couple of weeks.

i think i will go back to feeding and giving a day rest sometime to fully digest everything.

that system works for me with all my fish...once a day everyday...sometimes i try to sneak something extra for the aro but that is mainly if it is trying to pick fights with everything...when my aro is extra full it dosen't want to fight as much...like me lol thanx giving= early nap lol

once a week for my aro :D lol before you guys get all mad, dont worry, i've done thise with all my fish and they are completely fine.
