Feeding Beefheart To Datnoids

I get my little dats hitting on broken pieces of FD krill they cant resist .. its not that big of a jump then to get them to a soft pellet like hikari sticks

If I was you as soon as they go in your tank start feeding pellets

I have found if you start offering other foods from day one it's very hard to get them to take pellets

So pellets from day one then once they take them offer other foods every other day

When I had .5" silver dats I cut up 3mm NLS pellets and they ate that from day 1. When they got to 4" I tried krill and they wouldnt have none of that :0

Most juvie dats will convert to a quality pellet from early on.

Save the beef for the BBQ.

My dats have done really well on the beef heart. I rotate their food each day between beef heart tilapia shrimp and silversides. Never was able to get em eating pellets. Keep em with bichirs that also will not eat pellets so it all works out. Think the key is varying the diet. I also let them fast once or twice a week.
