Wow! I might have to try some corn. We have chickens that love it, but I never would have thought the loaches would go for it.

Try some hikari sinking pellets (or nutrafin sinking pellets). Other wise, go with some frozen bloodworms or some frozen brine shrimp.

BTW I've heard of them even eating watermelon and bananas!

Small update - one of the two big ones came out today, but not of his own free well - it seems that he'd been kicked out of the tunnel by the other big loach. He didn't seem particularly freaked out by spending time outside, but he obviously wanted to get back inside. After a lot of click-battling, he managed to get back in.

Is this normal for a pair of big guys sharing housing?

very good read, thanks for all those who input. I'm looking to grow out 10-12 Loaches for my future tank. I have all the foods mentioned, I'll start feeding mine varieties of diet. happy fish keeping.

There's probably 20 great loach feeding threads on MFK, but it really all boils down to a basic concept: NLS & other hi quality prepared foods, supplemented with fresh veggies, snail meat & frozen bloodworm. Vary the mixture daily & you will have healthy, happy, solid CL's.
