Hello, I heard in some threads here that catfish oil can be good for our polys stomach when they are having bloat or stuck air. My polys are not having these but would catfish meat be a good supplement for their diet?

I'm thinking of feeding my polys African Catfish once in a while.

Lolz, maybe it will be the other way around, those catfish will eat your poly if it was still alive(joke)
I feed my polys catfish once a week, some will eat some wont, i read its good for their digestive system, but catfish is oily so if you dont watch it carefully it will foul your water quickly. I feed mine when i know im gonna do WC the next day.

that's a good idea. i'll feed them catfish before i do WC the next day

Wouldn't salmon work too if we are talking an oily fish anyways? Seems like it would contain more nutrients including omega 3's compared to catfish. Not trying to start a food debate but considering some different things to add to my poly's diet.

From what i read salmon if more fatning the catfish, but some people say that salmon has more salt too, some say its better but i havent tried.

I have buddies who fish and could likely get me some salmon for free. Not that I would use it all the time but as an occasional treat.

What type of catfish are you guys using? Any concern on thiaminase?

Personally haven't been using for about 2 years. Nutrition should be the same for all since it's a pangisus catfish
