Hi....

My LFS just brought in some centipedes and i wonder if it can be fed to my arowana?

Its like 3-4" mature adult centipedes which looks very scary and lethal.....

I remember reading somewhere that feeding it to fishes can enchance the fish colour and the fish will enjoy it very very much

So.....is it good to feed arowanas centipede??

Will there be any risk of who bites first survives????

Well, in the wild they may eat them if they get a chance to, but to be safe, I would cut thier heads off.

wtf, those centipedes look like those insects in king kong o_o.

They are...only smaller. Centipedes aren't insects though.

Personally, it is not something I would use for food, would be much cooler as a pet.

As far as I know they all are, I don't really know much about them. I think if you remove the heads they are alright but I dunno, thats why i won't take a stance one way or another. I don't know enough about them to take a stand on if they are good food or not.

The poison is injected via their front two legs, as with most venomous creatures their level of toxicity is dependant on location and species. The more venomous species hail from South American rain forests and others from tropical islands in the bahammas etc. cutting off their heads and front 2 legs then throwing them in the tank immediatly would be the best way to do it. Though I haven't heard the question of whether or not they enhance the color of this fish yet answered. If so I know a few places near by to catch some 4" specimans. I had a friend feed big centipedes and even a tarantula to his piranhas, didn't really seem to enhance color though.
