feeding clown knifes

still not getting him to eat anything but ghost shrimp or the ocassional guppy and such. i starve him (but cant stand to starve hime for more then three days)and he doesnt take to anything no sinking pellets floating pellets raw meaty shrimp nothin yet...still hopeful and trying...hes about 4-5inches.

I would suggest you keep up with the starving method. Not for a larger ammount of days only more often. Keep the food scarce and it will get interested in something new (that's the idea anyway). I'm lucky, mine devours hikari cichlid pellets everytime i feed the tank(the pellets are actually for my dempsey). Good luck and keep at it.

Is it by itself int he tank or does it have any tank mates?

hes a 4" with a 1.5" firemouth in a 29gal right now till i set transfer some fish from the 90gal to my 125.

I have a 12"+ clown knife in my big tank that whacks pellets like there's no tomorrow. They're the floating kind and he "attacks" them from below and scoops a mouthful of air from the top at the same time. It looks pretty cool cos there's quite a loud sound from him hitting the surface and then the trail of bubbles he leaves behind.

My other knife is a 3" albino that I in another tank. I'm still trying to convince him that pellets are food and he's still not believing me ... i hope he comes round soon. ;)

i also had this same problem..... i hav one 6" ck,,,, all the food that i put is eaten by the othrs but nothing available to this fish
now woti do is take the ck to anothr dark vessel,,,, put frozen bloodworm into the vessel - close the vessel as these only eat in the dark
u can never c a ck eating whn lite is there ,,,,,
