hey i was wondering if theres any bacteria i should be worried about in crickets or meal worms that i should be worried about? would it be better to freeze or feed them live as well?
thanks

theres is bacteria on worms and crickets but its very harmless to fish

as long as they came from a pure location (example:farms, uncontaminated soil)

i wouldnt worry much

id prefer you didnt freeze them, that way all the nutrients are retained better,

some nutrients are destroyed in the defrosting process

so live is better

yeah what delgado said

Arowana LOVE crickets.

Any crickets that you buy from LFS will be fine.

I dont like to feed crickets I find from around the house as pesticides have been sprayed....

crickets have very little nutrients so use carrots to feed them they will gobble it up throw a whole one in and watch it disappear the betta caratin will give sliver aros a nice orange hue
or just feed fish flake and get some gel water if you plan on housing them as they dehydrate and die quickly...

I've frozen meal worms and it worked out well since they are quite dry each or them were frozen separately even though clumped together. If you look it up, meal worms turn into some sort of black bugs that you might not want to handle. If you have too many meal worms for your fish to eat, freeze them.

I keep my crickets in a little insect house thing, I put in a damp paper towel so they can get water and a piece of carrot so they can eat.

Del heres a question for ya. Would gut loading cricket with vitamins help with getting more nutrients to Aros?

I know I used to gutload them for the lizards I had a few years ago.

so i shouldnt be worried about any bacteria such as with feeders? reason being, my sister wont let me get crickets for my black, im guessing she doesnt want me to risk it... jus wanted to double check with you guys.
