so i shouldnt be worried about any bacteria such as with feeders? reason being, my sister wont let me get crickets for my black, im guessing she doesnt want me to risk it... jus wanted to double check with you guys.

i would just make sure the place your getting the crickets from are reasonably healthy

my lfs crickets are **** :swear:

I feed my red aro about 15 adult crickets a day and so far, no desease. I buy the critters wholesale from a breeder and house them in a "pet habitat" container. Only thing is.... they don't stop chirping. I should try feeding them carrots, that's a good idea.

i feed a good mix of earth worms, live rat pups, f.d.krill, new life spectrum pellets, frozen krill, live leopard frogs, crickets and some other foods on occasion

i used to feed my crickets omega flake food before i fed them to my arrow. i feed meal worms alot now. they won't turn into beatles if they are kept in cooler temps. no big deal if they do the fish like to eat the beatles or you can keep the beatles in a wheat flour and wheat bran mix with sliced potaloes (for water) and every female beatle will lay 500 eggs.

and if you are going to buy crickets and worms get them off line the prices do not compare to the lfs

My main staple for my black and silver aros has been crickets gut loaded with veggie tabs and krill, out of three silvers and two blacks I only have one guy with drop eye. If they are big enough they love the occasional pinkie mouse for a treat as well. :)

When you say feeders, do you also mean goldfish feeders? If so, try to quarantine them for 2 wks before feeding them. As they said, crickets and mealworms are fine.
