Would it be safe to feed feeders that are caught out of a lake to rays? I would of course freeze them first but is this enough to kill parasites? just was feeding silversides the other day and started thinking that they are pretty much just like a shad or a minnow.

I could throw net several pounds in 1 throw and stock up this way.

just wondered

there was a thread on this not long ago.... me i would not do it... not worth the risk

I am debating this as well. After all silversides are just wild caught bait fish that have been frozen!

ETA, I could do this with crawfish as well as I can easily catch hundreds a day.

i think about polutants in the water.... things you cant see.... i am thinking about keeping live crawlfish and feeding insane abouts of anti parasite pellets and keeping them in Q for a year...

but they are mainly for a breeding program and future foods.... i cant explain my thought process but if you think about those wild fish in lakes and all then think about bugsprays, fertilizers, storm drain runoff etc... my fish are worth the extra few bucks it will cost to feed them verse catching them myself... the crawfish are more for a hobby and will be lab tested long before they would become feeders to any of my fish...

I see where you are comming from, but the same would be true for silversides although since they come from the ocean it is more diluted.
