I have a 4 in front that has always seemed to have an issue with keeping food in his mouth once grabbed from the surface. I have been feeding him small hikari pellets and most of the time he will take the food into his mouth then spit it out immediately after, only to go darting back after the same food he just spit out, having the same constant battle resume. The pellets are pretty small and he takes them in like nothing so I dont know why he is having trouble devouring. Its like only after trying ten times will he finally ingest one pellet. any help??

Sinking pellets.... I have a Front too and he is the exact same way with the floating pellets. He will grab them or run up for a grab then stop just short of it and just look at it then retreat...

Sinking pellets though! He gets them all of the time and hammers on them. Must be the bashful side of the Fronts huh???

You can soak your pellets in a cup of water to soften them and make them sink. You don't want your Front feeding from the surface.

yeah sinking seems best. just be sure they see the pellets as you feed them cuz its easier to overfeed with sinking pellets

i agree with sinking pellets. I also soak mine and add vita-chem or garlic to them a few times a week. The garlic will help with finicky eaters.

funny.
people worry about how old a food is, or how long its been exposed to the air, yet people soak feed.
guess what happens when you soak food.
nutrients escape, way more then exposure to the air from opening the can.
all feed companies will tell you to NOT soak the food.
get sinking pellets, or if you are going to soak them, do it in a garlic juice or vitamin juice.

frontosa are picky eaters, sometimes they spit out a couple times before they eat it.
could also try another brand.

fronts can be finiky, he probably doesnt care for the pellet. try a few days wihout food and then try. he will give in

NEVER EVER FEED FLOATING PELLETS TO FRONTOSAS

Reason being is that "Float" is the most dreaded disease in Frontosas (no cure) and it is caused by air trapped in their digestive track. One of the causes is having the fish "break the surface" for their food, as in floating pellets. With the pellets they get air as well, not to mention that the pellet itself contains more O2 than the sinking pellets (more dense).

My pellet of choice for fronts is NLS Thera-A
