Hi all,
was wondering how many times per day you feed your fish?.I have 8 juvenile/subadult c/a in a 125 g.At the moment I'm feeding nls 2 x daily with bloodworms once or twice a week at night. Can I feed 3 x daily?.

That depends on how much water you're willing to change. As long as your nitrates stay below about 20, your fish will show good growth. If you overfeed them and the water gets too loaded, they will grow less in spite of eating more.

But certain fish like plecos and some livebearers, the so called "fei feng" and more typically must eat every day to maintain good digestive health, so in most cases more is better barring water quality. But obesity will kill fish, so avoid stuffing them silly.

yeah if i have super small fry i feed them small meals 3+x a day but once they reach a few inches i cut back to 2x daily. but like stated there is no problem with feeding 3x daily as long as the meals are smaller and you keep an eye out on water quality

Thanks guys,I do a 50% w/c weekly so water quality is good.I'm going to try a third small feeding, see how it goes.

A question which comes back every time on every forum.

It depends on the age of the fish, the amount of fish, the size of your tank, the filtration and how many times you do a water change.

The general rule given by manufactors of flake foods is two times a day just as much as your fish will eat in five minutes.
Most important thing is to take care there will be no food left in your tank after the feeding.

My adult fish normally gets 3-4 times a day just as much as they eat in two minutes.
I feed my juvenile oscars at this moment 8-10 times a day so they will grow fast. To keep the water in an optimal condition it's neccesary to have a good filter system and do my daily water changes.

I love to feed my fish. It's fun for my daughter and I. I feed once a day if I'm busy. Then 2-3 times a day when I'm home. I give them a good amount in the AM then little snacks during the day. Keeping up on wc and it's all good.
