feeding issue.. greedy PBass vs bottom feeders

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The bass will follow it down and hit the tube, but it works for my TSN. I don't like my TSN because he is a freak and goes nuts like that. I trained my RTC to hand feed and that solved this problem, but I'm not sure the TSN will hand feed as they are spazzes

yea mine is a spaz as well... might have to go bare bottom if he doesn't settle down : (

I've had this problem time and time again - at one point i had a dozen big greedy Monoculus and two little rays - it was a nightmare.

As an option i would hand feed but this was scary as the cichla used to attack me for the food, i tried the PVC pipe but it was an epic failure for me as the bass huddled at the bottom and just hit the pipe to release the prawn and then grab.

I found, particularly when i've had cat fish with them, that feeding 30 minutes after the lights go out is the best bet, the cichla calm down and the other fish come out to play.

Thing with a lot of cichla is even though they are full they still grab food out of greed and a lot of bottom dwellers won't touch the sloppy seconds meaning it sits around - i had this problem that much i had to purchase a niger cat to clean the mess up.

Find a skining pellet the Bass dont like. Mine dont like Bloodworm pellets but the Ray and Catfish love them! Easy!

Don't overfeed - that's not a good thing - especially with filtration, etc. Simply feed them something the bass do not like. OR, put a handful of food in at once - instead of just a few at a time, and the bass won't be able to get it all, at once, allowing the cat to get some.

ok ... how much is enough vs over feeding for a 10-12" PBass ?
since they are on massivore, how many pellets a day if I feed 6 days a week ?

You have to find out what your fish can eat - its a guess.

Personally mine don't fill up on pellet - my three Mono's take a 1/4Kg of prawns before they slow down and let the others have a go - i'd never try and fill them on massivore as i simply couldn't afford it so i stuff them with prawn then add the good stuff when theyve slown down.

Filling bass is hard IMO
