is it possible that 2 juvinile discus do not know what bloodworms or beefheart or flakes are? They have been nibbling around the bottom pretty much ignoring whatever i put in there.

I have no way of knowing what they were raising them on in Asia, and the local distributer didnt feed them before passing them on to my knowledge. Got the water perameters happy and the fish look good.

I feel Ive tried everything short of beating them into eating. Im just concerned that if they dont eat soon they wont make it as I dont know when their last meal was. Help!!!

Sounds like you sprung, before research. Do you only have the 2 discus, or do you have more? If they aren't eating, you should try seachem entice.

the other article i posted describes my situation but to sum it up:
I started with 4, but they came in acting funny, so i lowered PH about .2,
then the next day i got it about .1 more, in the 6.8 range, the temp is 86,
had an issue with my heater that dropped it and i believe killed one.

As for my not researching correctly, thats probably true. I have been cleaning my fathers discus tank for a while(110 usualy around 10-15 discus depending on what he has traded recently) He has been pretty lucky considering his PH is high(uses straight tap+stresscoat) and his constant trading away fish and getting new.

I have read many articles on discus and and one older book(1991), but that didnt really prepare me. Ill try the seachem entice. Thanks for input.

i found out what the distributer was feeding them,
life blackworms. will that make it harder for me to get them to eat?

Try hikari frozen bloodworms. Omega one super color flakes are also taken quite readily. You are worrying too much about your pH IMO. Many discus now are open to a wide range of pH's.

im not messing with water chem except for aging with some peat.

I have tried frozen bloodworms, homemade beefheart, chopped up frozen krill, brine shrimp, omega one brand super color pellets, topfin brand color enhancing flakes, some generic flakes.
Ive even given them 4 grams of frozen Love. har har

anyways, ill keep trying every 4-5 hours. They seem hungry, pecking at bottom of tank(glassbottom) and swimming around. Been 2 days now they have gone without food. :(

any other suggestions?

The color pellets aren't taken very well at all. Stick to the foods I recommended for easy to get foods, and blackworms. Frozen bloodworms are not all made the same, and not all taken as eagerly.

I agree. Any way that you can stay away from live food is best for Discus. It is too easy to pick up a parisite. They have probably eaten more than you think. Just lay off the food for a day. Then try some of the food WyldFya suggested. They will eat.

I have the simaler problem right now. THis happened to my first discus group but in a week they were comming up to my hand to eat so just sit back but if its more that lik 10 days u might have a prblm.

when I feed them i give them about 10-15 min to eat, and then net out the food. They havent touched anything except when they swim by it and some floats by them. They were picking at the sponge filter. I could not find seachem entice anywhere and did not get a chance to go to the store this afternoon to get the hikari bloodworms.

This is just driving me nuts, they hover around where I drop the food but dont actualy EAT it. The only they they bother to peck at is the few pieces of gravel i missed.

any tips for the actual feeding? Should i leave the food there longer? I was worried about the food getting grouty and upping the ammonia and such. Should i turn the filters off? Lights?
