I would stay away from beef heart unless you feed it very sparingly, and would stay away from live feeders altogether, unless you are breeding them yourself. the chances of introducing parasites or other diseases are just too great for it to be worth it

my jag eats hikari cichlid gold pellets, hikari bloodworms, and beefheat........loves em.........
mine eats frozen bloodworms, minnows, earth worms, sometimes pellets they arnt really that fussy, just mix their diet a bit,
