Feeding Jardini?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok...so the jardini died due to tankmate aggression. those fish have been removed and i did it. bought my first asian. hes a green, about 5-6 inches. i love him.
my question is this, i went and did the cricket thing, or should i say "crack"et. he loves them. but, one of the little ****ers climbed out of the tank during feeding. i wasnt able to catch him. is this bug gonna breed in my basement cause i dont think i could handle the chirping all night long?

It wont breed that easy, plus they die realy fast without water or food.

If you get medium crickets, they tend to not make the chirping noise since they need to be mature for that, thats why i stick with the med crickets.

And, i ran into the same problem as you, theres always 2-4 crickets that gets out when im feeding but i could care less. A spider will eat or my cat will play with it till it dies haha.

You could probably try getting him onto prepared foods now. Like you said, crickets can be "addictive" for aros and soon you won't be able to feed the little guy anything else.

I would suggest small pieces of prawn (shrimp) meat and pellets as a staple, with crickets and mealworms for variety..

Yeah, dont feed him crickets only.

Gut load the crickets atleast. Buy some veggie flakes, the expensive ones. And feed them to your crickets so it can healthy at the same time yummy for him. Or, other select fish food.

I feed my crickets a mix of vegie flakes and soft micro cichlid pellets. And i dont even know what my meal worms will eat.
