You live in Gusais right? Go to Lulu Hypermarket and on the fish counter they sell defrosted prawns for 25Dhs a kilo. I kilo will last at least a months if not longer. They also defrosted clam meat for a similar price. Take them home and keep them in the frezer and thaw them as you need them. Your arows will will happy and so will you because it works out cheaper than any pellet food. When they get larger you can buy whole Anchovies for 27 a kilo (again frozen) and those little fish are like crack for a big Arrow :)

Hope that help.
yes i do that only.i get prawns from there only.but i dont get a kilo.i bring some for 5 bucks n keep. but i dont want to feed them market prawns only.so i feed them chicken, prawns and this time i got squid. so i try and keep it a varied diet.

It's best if you varied the diet. If you have many different kinds of foods, then feed them with different kind each day you feed them.
yes i do vary my diet between blood worms.prawns, chicken and now squid

Just remember koi are not carnivores. Feed more sea food than koi pellets. Also, chicken shouldn't be fed to fish. Market prawns/shrimp are better than most of the foods you can get. Only feed anchovies once a month as they are high in salts.

Mine live on a whole prawn every other day, sometimes I put an Arowana pellet inside the prawn. And from time to time take a platy out of the pond and throw it in. My Jardini will eat koi pellets and indeed used to live off of them when he was smaller but I don;t think feeding any arowana over 5 inches in length pellets is fair. They have such gaping jaws for a reason, and that is surely to eat massively large prey. It would be more appropriate to feed it dog biscuits than koi pellets if it's of any size IMHO.

Off topic, I've found a truly massive silver arrowana for sale, at 80cms from tip to tail what would you say it's worth here?

Can you tell me why an untreated anchovy would be higher in salt than a prawn? They both come from the see after all?

Something in the anchovy makes it high in salinity for some reason.
Taken from the arowana diet sticky:
Anchovies- Anchovies are high in salt and is very beneficial to the aro's digestive system. This should not be fed too much as salt is very bad is there is too much, but a little bit will clean out their digestive system. (Thanks to Frank for the idea.)
