My 18" Jar eats mostly Hikari food sticks, Beef heart, and very seldom feeder goldfish. I feed him every day, but usually skip one day a week.

Thanks for the help. I would love to get him on pellets, that would make everything a lot easier. Right now it just seems interested in night crawlers, but he is still adjusting to the new tank. I am going to slowly start working him onto other foods.

if you have the overflow "comb" in place, only water flows through..pellets, at the least, get stuck in the "comb" ( for lack of a better word , it is what we call it in portuguese )

so true. my overflow eats more pellets than my aro eats in a week.

I turn off my pumps during feeding. (return and powerhead)

That is a great idea...irksome for me since i have to dive under the tank on my knees to disconnect everything and with my electrical skills no one knows what is connected to where.....
