I have 10 loaches in my 125....they pretty much lived under a big piece of driftwood so feeding them was not a problem I would just drop bloodworm chunks, shrimp pellets etc right down where they were..well, I got a big syndo catfish who took over there spot now they sort of roam the whole tank. Problem now is at feeding time they dont all see the food and bloodworms dont exactly stay in place for feeding..my question is anybody have any advice on how to keep their food in place or better feeding tips. The tank isnt changing so a different hiding spot for them is not an option. they seem happy now and do have some spots for shelter

They might be eating small bits of food but you could lure the syndo catfish out of where the loaches are at feeding time or put him in a net over the tank. That's what i'd do.

Get them a whole bunch of snails, they love them.

I once had a snail infestation, bought 2 clown loaches, and they finished with it in a couple days

I actually have snails in there But i never see them eating them..I really cant take they syndo out while feeding thats just too much of a pain hes 8 inches and fat and strong. I guess as long as they are getting the food thats dropped in there I am happy..they are the only ones that eat the bloodworms so nothing else gets them

Loaches haven't been around for millenia by having food drop in front of their faces. As long as there is enough food, they will find it.

loaches not eating snails??? what snails or loaches do you keep?

clown loaches and I dont see them eat snails but im sure they still are...they are the annoying trumpet looking snails. Not too many of them so I guess the loaches are keeping them in check

Malaysian trumpet snails spend most of the daylight hours hiding in the substrate and come out at night. That is probably when the loaches eat them, so you don't really see it

:iagree: If you are unsure of them doing their job, crush several trumpet snails and plop back in the tank. Once they eat, they'll get the idea. A lot of botiine loaches would initially have no idea what to do with snails (in case they were never actually accustomed to this kind of food).
