I should really get some fish meat... Right now my sens just get pellets staple with frozen bloodworm or mosquito larvae occasionally.

I think shookONES shookONES hit the nail on the head. The amount is just as important as what we are feeding. I go 1 or two days sometimes 3 inbetween feedings. One thing i made sure to do was to get them on a quality pellet along with tilapia, worms, and silversides. Tilapia and nls mega fish make up the bulk of there diet.

The pellet/tilapia meatballs never failed me lol

I agree a fasting day or 2 a week is important to allow for proper digestion and tract clearing. Seems consenus of a varied diet of quality pellet, whole fish, and filet makes up a bulk of most diets.

Feeding frequency is an important aspect of the feeding duscussion. I break it down into three phases-

Very young polys in the rapid growth phase (usually up to 9 months) really can't be fed to much. At this point twice a day feedings. Typically Polys in this range are putting on 1-3" per month.
At the end of this phase growth tapers off but is still steady(1/2") . Daily feelings are the rule here. (Usually the 9 -12 month range)
Mature bichirs are fed every other day with occasional fasting spells up to 3 or 4 days.

The above is easy if fish are in the same stage, gets more challenging when mixing bichirs in the different stages. The key here is observing your fishes behaviour and knowing how to index that to food quantity. I can feed my tank 7 days a week but do it in such a manner that my mature fish are only getting food every other day while actively growing fish are getting getting food daily.
