feeding my bichir

I have a 4" senegal bichir and im going to go buy a 5" albino senegal, i have it in a 90G right now and hes doing fine on bloodworms, ive been reading about and it seems best to condition him to sinking pellets. I was also planning on breeding either convict cichlids or guppies to feed him live fish here and there and i was worried that the tank will have too much room and he will be too slow for him to be able to get them.
the tank is semi planted

any advice would be appreciated!

blood worms are no good,pellets are expensive. i feed smelt, basa, tilapia, shrimp(mysis and brine when young, reg shrimp, krill and prawn when larger), scallop, squid, and earthworms to all my pollys

They do love hikari sinking pellets. But I've seen that bichirs being fed floating pellets are more active as compared to those fed with sinking pellets.

Although senegals seem to be the exception at being active regardless of what pellets you feed them. They are the bichirs who can readily accept floating pellets
 
I got the senegal because i read that they were more active. I was planning on mixing it up just wanted to make sure he would be able to catch them, he hasnt shown any interest in brine shrimp (which is kinda nice cause they end up cleaning all the leftovers for me)

why is that? bloodworms are good for fish, they contains very high proteins which are good for growth. Pellets are best, even though they are expensive, but at the end of the day, you'll be spending less than buying prepare food from your market.

the min crude protien on my pack mof bloodworms is 6.4% not very high at all, where as the min protien on my pe mysis shrimp is 68%. blood worms arer fattier so they are good to put weight on skinny fish, but not so good for a staple diet. plus they are small and only appropriate for small bichirs(under ''4). how are pellets cheaper, i can get 10lbs of frozen seafood for the price of two lbs of pellets. i you go buy lfs prices $50 for a bag of massivore delite will only feed my bichirs for a week. a 2lbs bag of smelt will last a week and it only cost me $7

Over feeding!

I have between 30-40 Polypterus, and no way in the world would a $50 ($30 where I am from) bag of Hikari only last 1 week!
