Thats a crazy price for massivore!

But a $30 bag here is 1kg (about 2lbs?) that will cover my Bichirs for a hell of a lot longer than a week.

the min crude protien on my pack mof bloodworms is 6.4% not very high at all, where as the min protien on my pe mysis shrimp is 68%. blood worms arer fattier so they are good to put weight on skinny fish, but not so good for a staple diet. plus they are small and only appropriate for small bichirs(under ''4). how are pellets cheaper, i can get 10lbs of frozen seafood for the price of two lbs of pellets. i you go buy lfs prices $50 for a bag of massivore delite will only feed my bichirs for a week. a 2lbs bag of smelt will last a week and it only cost me $7

cheers
Jordan

really? I'm not too sure if the data you got is right, here is a data posted by Beblondie from stickies, one other reason that pellets are good because they are free from bacteria/parasites. In some country, frozen foods of fish fillets that are sold in the market could contain preservatives which are dangerous for the fish.

i'm reading the data from the bloodworm and mysis shrimp packaging. if the food has been frozen first it should be free of parasites. as for the presevatives, read the packaging before you buy, in canada all ingredients MUST be listed. if it has presevatives i don't buy it

then perhaps you need to double check what you buy, either blood worms or earthworms are used by the local breeders here to feed bichirs specially when they young, it boosts their growth. As far as prepare food goes, different countries got different food regulations. If the food is properly frozen food then it may just be free from parasites but not from bacteria. It does not affect your fish immediately, but in long term it would.

i feed earth worms aswell, blood worms are only suitable for really small bichirs under 4'' after that red wiggler and eath worms are more appropriate. fyi no food can claim that it doesn't carry bacteria pellet or frozen. you do realize they make the pellets with ground up fish that can carry bacteria. unless something is sterilized then sealed it carries bacteria, even if it is sterile when you buy it once you open the bag you introduce bacteria, it is on everything you touch

at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what you feed your fish with as long as you manage to keep them alive and stay healthy, the point here, is you mentioned that bloodworms contain less protein and carries more fat, which I dont think is correct. I think the table I posted above is pretty much accurate, which you may choose not to refer to it.

sori bout the double post, dunno how to delete it
