cool i think my filter could handle the poo of it every day (tetra whisper 10-20 gal filter) it keeps my water crystal clear so i think i could feed them every day

I at least wash all vegetables, the same as you would if you ate them, the amount of crap that gets sprayed on them nowadays. It is not a bad idea to soak potatoes, and give them a good wash, to leach away some of the starch, that you dont want in your tank.

Zebra plecos are generally 125 for one that is 1" from a reputable breeder. They only get to be 4" MAX, and need warmer waters than most other plecs. They are not a herbivore, and need a very high in protein diet. Hikari sinking wafers are accepted best by them. These are extremely hard to get through a LFS or LPS. If you aren't to adept with plecos yet, I'd stay away from them until later. There are many other plecos out there that you can get much easier, and for FAR less that are also very good looking fish. Talk to davo about the L260s which are a close relative of zebras.
