hi , just bought a lovely vieja ( red head cichlid ) from my lfs and forgot to ask them what they where feeding him . so far he has eaten sinking carnivore pellets defrosted shrimp and peas . he has refused to eat tetra doromin , what is everybody else feeding theirs and is what im feeding ok . thanks

Have kept Synspillum for years... mine will eat absolutely anything. Hell... I think they'd eat flaming gasoline.
My old redhead was the same if you could eat it it would eat it, if you couldnt eat it would still eat it lol.. they do how ever need more greens in there diet, something like hikari bio gold.
I feed mine hikari bio-gold,spirulina pellets,earthworm sticks,romaine lettuce,peas,zuchinni and superworms

I would feed new life spectrum over hikari personally, but you should get good results from either.
I feed all of my fish a mixed diet with Xtreme Aquatic foods as a staple. For the synspilum just be sure that they get some kind of a veggie matter food.
"Flaming Gasoline" LOL I like that. I used to say that the fish in the pond would eat eraser tips if I threw them in. Competition for food makes them more hunger aggressive.
