I was wondering what the appropriate size of a peacock bass is to start weening them off of live feeders and what type of pellets are best. Are Cichlid Gold floating pellets a good choice?

6" has been the uniform size do to fragility in the past... BUT.. I have had them weined sooner than that.

I don't like it.. As I like the fact that I keep Piscivores :) But ya.. Best size for new keepers is 6" to start the process.

If you have any other Cichlid's that are of the same size as the Cichla then that will help as well. But remember it is best to not starve them but just provide them with different option's. GL.

You can try Massivore or most Hikari brand's. Food stick's work pretty well also. You should also try talapia, shrimp, and krill frozen and freeze dried.

I feed my peacocks hikari sinking carnivore pellets or massivore delight daily before a goldfish or two to make sure they get thier vitamins and extras that the goldfish don't come with. I also gutload my goldfish before they become food with tetra color, cichlid gold, blood worms, mysis shrimp or what ever i have the most of (the higher the protien the better)

i wish mine would eat pellets. they are about 3 inches. and i open the tank and try pellets they jsut stair up at me like im a F*ckin idiot! they eat blood worms though!!

yeh like previously stated 6" is a good size, my pack love anything Hikari!
