Feeding Piranha

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not true. Depends on age, when young they will easily eat each other if not fed frequently! Territorial disputes play a role ime when they get older and even then when a stray rbp invades or swims in another part of the tank he's usually chased off immediately and goes back to his normal perch!

The shoal will go after a weak and or injured shoal mate hungry or not.

when the Ps are young, no territorial problems. yes.
But once when 1 of my Ps were sick, it was in a corner of the tank and others didn't chase him.

Then they weren't hungry enough. Who knows.

I have a rhoms on 9" and it eats about 3-4 times a week, but how much should I give him every time? Right now I run him on tails of shrimps, for that is the food he is used to ( he has just stayed with me for a week). Is it enough with 6 tails of shrimps about 3-4 times a week?

I do not want to over feed him either, because it becomes much leftover food to pick up and the water gets dirty quickly.
