My new baby jardini wont feed on anything except blood worms, what should I do? Starve him till he eat pellets or just get him bigger with blood worms and then starve him?

Hes around 2" ish...

what are you trying to get him to eat? pellets? .

IMO: 2" is too small to starve..(although some would disagree) i would suggest to get him bigger with blood worms and then starve him. i starved my Jar at 4-5".

crickets are also, easy for them to learn to eat..but, its hard to get them off crickets as well (double eged sword) ...if you go the cricket route i would suggest gut loading them with carrots (for color) and pellets first then feed ;)....if you "dust them" i would assume the supplement would just come off as soon as it hits the water?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! please do not starve the little guy

he is too small to eat other stuff
try earthworms, or dried shrimp those things work pretty well

mine was 5" when i got him and he used to eat live feeders when i got him but after a few months when he was 7"+ he started eating dried shrimp and fish fillet and earthworms

put an earthworm in the tank wait for him to finish it
then add another and continue till he has a good belly to show then the next day you can put 2 earthworms and then put a pellet or dried shrimp and wait for him to finish if he doesn't try again the next and one day he will eventually eat pellets but to try this method wait till he reaches at least 6"+

Initially when he starts to learn to eat them, but i suspect that once he does they wont last long in the tank. I feed my aro dusted crickets at least twice a week. a dozen at a time, usually all gone within seconds... My old 20 inch Jar used to go threw 5 dozen xlarge crickets in less then a minute!!

cool...what supplements do you use?

try aro stick just breack them in half or maybe smaller my 2in silver loved them before he took the jump of faith to the ground and died

I tried ciclid stick, aro stick, tetra bits, goldfish pellets, shrimp pellets, it takes a bite and split it back out :irked:

I want him to take pellets, so I dont have to steal bloodworms from my dad ;)

For now I think the bloodworms and a quality flake food is fine. Pellets might be too big/hard for him at this stage which is why he might not be eating them. I agree that he is too small to starve, but don't worry, he'll accept pellets as long as you stay consistent with your attempts.

I got my second silver aro at 6'' a litte over a month ago and all he would eat was flakes. I kept trying pellets, but he just spit them back out right after attacking it. Then he passed the 7'' mark so i decided it was time to starve him out so I starved him for 1 whole day before he caved in and ate the pellets, lol. Now he's almost at the 8'' mark and loves pellets.

Let your aro get comfy in its new home for 2 weeks and try again. They seem to be more adventurous when they are comfortable.
