Feeding Question

Starve him out! He'll eat, A healthy fish will never starve itself to death in the presents of food. It's a battle of wills and you have the upper hand.

Use NLS Thera +A. A night crawler once in a while is fine but it can't be it's main source of nutriton. If you are really worried about the long term health of your fish a little tough love will go a long way.

Ahhh I am going to feel bad doing this, but ok.. I will get back with you all in a week or two with a progress report on this block head of a fish. Thank you for the input!

I keep the tank at/near 80, no higher though. Should I go for larger pellets? As in real big ones. Or?

If you go with nls (especially the thera A+) you need to go smaller... like 4.5mm being the max. They are a very hard pellet but one of the most nutritional in my opinion. They aren't supposed to be chewed they are supposed to be swallowed whole. So smaller the better. My 6 and 7 inch peacock bass are eating 3mm nls..

For the record, the last jack I had was about 10 inches long. He didn't eat anything for over a month but he finally came around and was still plenty healthy

My Jack at 10inches will eat the 2mm pellets, the 3mm would be better if I had some but I feed the 6mm to him now, If he is anything under7 inches go with 3mm pellets!!

he will eat if you starve him i had a pair of istlanum cichlids that wouldn't eat pellets, the male was the most stubborn, took him about 10 days to eat, a healthy fish can go a long time without food but they won't stave themselves to death.
