Feeding Red Hook SDs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed only NLS and most of the time they have to scavenge it off the substrate.
I tossed in some omega shrimp pellets today and these guys went savage on it! All were hitting the water surface with a vengeance!

I guess I will have to grow out some small ones as that is mostly what is for sale around here and they are around twenty bucks each..My armatus is at least a foot long so the red hooks would need to put some size on before I would attempt to put them with the armatus.

Greetings. I kept 4 Red Hooks with a senegalese bichir and they quickly stopped eating the vegetation I was providing them, and instead only ate meal worms I put in the tank for my bichir. My bichir was 7inches long but very slow, added with its poor eye sight and the silver dollars greed he often missed out on alot of food. This led me to hand feeding which took fish keeping to another level for me lol. But as much as I liked the Red Hooks they terrorised my 2 Angelfish to the point where I chose to sell the silver dollars. Nice fish, but still a relative to the piranha, I dont believe they should be sold as veggies.
