want to see other ways you guys feed your payaras or atf. do you turn off pumps and powerheads. how often do you feed and what kind of variety of food.

It pretty much depends on the size of fish that you're talking about. I have three 14"-15" Armatus that eat market shrimp, tilapia, prawns and scallops and I don't turn off the powerhead. As for the AFT, they're smaller at about 6"-7" and eat the same thing plus they actually talke pellets too and again my powerhead isn't turned off. Hopefully, I answered some of your questions?!

I never turn off my wavemaker. My ATFs seem to love it as they lively swim through currents.

2 times a day. I use market shrimp, cut tilapia and sometimes quarantined live fishes.

ATFs are easy to wean off live foods. Make sure you did when they're small though. I used to keep 24" Armatus years ago but I need to sell him because he accepts only live foods and I need to work overseas at the time T_T.

thanks for the reply. i feed 2 - 3 times a day for my growouts and have alot of current going thru. i leave everything on but sometimes its a PIA when the food gets stuck onto powerheads. i have 6 ATF at 6-7" and 6 red tail payaras at 6.5 -7. also 6 silver dollars. they are all off live and scarfing down carnisticks. when i feed the food hits the other side of the tank and the return from sump pushes it under and towards them. everyone eats. also when food gets in my drain it turns my filter red / brown and it smells horrible.

I guess turning off the powerhead will help in your case. I feed my guys twice a day and I don't have to turn off the powerheads because I use the sinking massivores, they rarely get stuck or over flow down to the sump. Also, have you tried target feeding? I do that all the time with my fish, I feed the armie first and then the ATF and then the others.

i just very recently got them to accept the carnisticks. ima pick up the massivore and try target feeding. what i tried recently was turn everything down. soak carnisticks and then throw it in one by one. and at the end toss a few in for the ones that are not the best on fighting for food
