Feeding the Common Pleco Veggies

How often do you offer veggies to your common pleco? I give mine healthy slices of zuchini or cucumber twice a week and let him fend for himself on algae the rest of the time. What is your feeding schedule?

about the same, and he gets scraps the rest of the time that keeps him well fed.

My plecos, I don't have any commons, get half a Zuc, or cucumber every other day. They also get bloodworms, beefheart frozen, and shrimp pellets about every day.

Mine will eat algae, which is why I don't offer much, I want him to be hungry enough to eat algae.

Many of mine suck at eating algae, so I don't even bother with trying.

Don't all plecos suck? That is why they are born with that type of mouth...LOL

Mine get zucchini, carrot, potato, and kiwi every 2 or 3 days. Between the fresh stuff they're fed veggie sticks, spirulina sticks, and earthworm sticks. Plus, they're the cleanup crews for leftovers from the other fish.

mine get, depending on sp. bloodworms about twice a week. carnivorous/omnivorous catfish pellets (everyday) and a cucumber every week. sometimes i give them treats, recently started trying mango, and shelled peas, lettuce etc. just experimenting on top of regular diet

so true. many of them are crap for algae eating

Mine gets zuchini carrot or peas twice a week.Hes really good ay cleaning algae,tank is spotless,Ill put a decoration or rock from another tank in there once or twice a week and hell have it spotless in a matter of hours.and he cleans up the oscars table scraps
