Wonder if it was one of those "Glass Cages" tanks sold at chain stores, that are meant to house reptiles, amphibians, or small mammals, but not made to house fish?
These tank should only partially filled with water (maybe 1/4 water)

Honestly I dont know what type it actually was .. Nothing was said other than a fish tank and when I picked it up nothing was otherwise mentioned

sorry to hear about that... even mine first tank which was also a used tank broke and flooded the room
and now 1 year later i have 4 tanks... slow progress:) hope it will be more than 4 for you

Thank you Soumo.. Lesson learned for me is not to cut corners.. And yes its going to be a slow process.. Thank you for your encouragement :)

I know tou baught is used but did the seller happen to mention who the manufacturer is

No Jaws just that he had purchased it at a local pet store.. And of course took I as that.. Lesson learned ASK!! :)

Sorry to hear this. All of my tanks were purchased used, 95% from Craigslist. I always fill them and leave them sitting outside for at least 24 hours, but never longer....I hope I don't have an experience like yours in the future.

As was already stated, always be sure any aquarium you purchase is rated to hold water, and the center brace(s) is intact, if applicable. Also, if it's a diy aquarium, be sure the material is thick enough.
