something about the proportions tell me female... males seem to fill out differently as they mature

its a female, you can tell by the body shape and the way it is filling out at stated above.

The most obvious is the tube thats dropped.

Female cuz amount & size of its vent sticking out. Male's vent tend to be more pointy. She looks ready to spawn from the size of that belly.

I tried putting her in with my 7inch Thai silk male but she is like half his size and he started chasing her down, so i guess I'll grow her out first

Out a divider between them so they can see one another, they have to be in the breeding mood, he saw it as an outsider and in his territory do he wanted to kill her. Divide them, they will get use to seeing one another and she may lay eggs for you

It's ok to have smaller female. My females tend to be the aggressor...I'm guessing my males just want to mate. Did you just throw her in with the male? Try introducing her with a clear divider for at least a day.

It's a 125 gallon tank, the thaisilk, 3 parrots, 1 geo, 2 feaste, upside down catfish, and bristle nose pleco, I just put her in and she was flaring at the Thai silk but he was trying to bite her so i was a little scared he would kill her if I left her in. The feaste started trying to punk her so I took her out. I think I'll try to get a divider
