I shoot small aperture in conjunction with a black background. Usually my aperture for this type of picture will be f22. The lighting is also directed away from the black backgound that way the light falls off and does not reflect off anything else.
With the same basic idea and Using a black seamless background I was able to accomplish this shot of my pit bull.

In the pitbull shot and the shot of the managuense i boost the black in photoshop. The pumpkin and tattooing pics are not edited so they aren't as dark.

I was never able to get good shots with them and find them confusing.

How do you distinguish male from female? My LFS carries some nice looking ones. Nice looking gal u got there
