Female Red Tapajos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just because the Brazilians sold her to me as a Red Tapajos doesn't means she's not a cobra, came from Rio Tapajos for sure, She is redder in the water and a beast, anything I throw in the tank is eaten immediatly. Here's a belly shot. Ken

Hey Ken - good luck with the auction! I'm thinking this fish is a cobra after viewing your photos and comparing to ours. Tapajos I - have a gold ring around the tail spot, Tapajos II (Cobra) do not! Also, the head shape seems more like a cobra - a little blunter.

A very nice fish - healthy & chunky, am surprised the fins aren't more torn up ~ being wild-caught. Someone should be very happy with your big girl, I don't know anyone with a female 14"+ ...

John, Here's a blow up of the tail spot, has a ring around it, I need to walk out to the hachery and look closely. Ken

I have a red and my bro has cobra but i can never get a decent shot of ea to compare. It does look like Cobras dont get the gold ring on the tail spot and aren't as full bodied red as the RT. Maybe they're close cousins that just start out different.

whoever gets her will be happy no matter which one it is though. unless of course they're trying to breed.

Consenses from the pikes crowd is that she is a cobra, either way she's a bad ass fish! Ken

BTW, is that your bloody finger in the photo? All the better if it is! ;)
