Fenbendazole as a cancer cure for Humans??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He was receiving many other treatments including an undescribed clinical trial so it would be very wrong to say this is conclusive in any way.

Nobody here said it was conclusive. Also nobody else in the 'undesribed clinical trial' was cured, only him.

And as FatHomer rightly points out, the results with chemo aren't always conclusive either -- works for some, some it doesn't (didn't save my dad) -- and is a miserable process for all either way, any possibly workable alternatives should be explored and not suppressed.

By the way, do you work for a big pharma co. by chance?

Few comments:

1) For those of you complaining about big pharma, note that Panacur C, the formulation of Fenbendazole that was used by the guy in the original article, is made by Merck, which is a huge pharma company.

2) Most of the studies showing anti cancer effects of Fenbendazole are in vitro studies (i.e., it can kill cancer cells growing in a dish). There are many, many compounds that show in vitro anti-cancer activity but are not successful in humans.

3) There are some in vivo studies in mice that do show that Fenbendazole slows the growth of tumors, but there are others that show that it has no effect.

4) There are many anecdotes of unorthodox treatments mysteriously curing patients supposedly deemed incurable. I am very happy for those lucky patients, but the only way to determine if the treatments actually work is through controlled clinical trials. Sadly, in the majority of cases those initial anecdotes don’t end up being reproduced in the controlled trials. It looks like there is currently 1 trial underway investigating Mebendazole, but none currently registered using Fenbendazole.

5) There are almost no experts in the field who still think that chemo is the best or most effective way to treat cancer. There are many alternatives under investigation, but treating cancer is extremely complicated.

6) In case anyone feels the need to ask, no I don’t work for a big pharma company, but I am a scientist at a major medical center and do spend a lot of my time studying cancer therapies.

1) im not hating on big pharma per say, just that like lots of big companies they try to maximize their profits above all else most of the time...

Just look at that one case before where some douche bought out the rights to a certain med (cant rmb which one atm) and then raised the price by over 1000% just because be could....

P.S i understand big pharma also spend big money researching and producing these new meds before anyone jumps down my throat for it :p

2) Good to know, because that means scientist are looking into this possibility even if slim...

3) same as No.2 answer

4) i’ve actually seen first hand some of those alternate medicines working on cancer patients, so at least the few cases i’ve seen, it can sometimes work with certain forms of cancer...

5) that depends which country you live in, over here 99.9% of doctors say chemo is the only way to treat cancer, because it makes them the most money... even when i asked a lot of the so called top cancer Dr’s here about alternate meds, they all say chemo is the best method...

6) its always good to know there are scientists such as yourself looking into more cancer treatments...

Thanks for the good info the_deeb, sounds like you know what you're talking about. Complaining about big pharma, as much as the industry deserves it in many respects imho, was not the thrust of this post. Good luck in your cancer therapy studies, will it happen in our lifetime?

Tweak the formula a little, and you can add a second, third, fourth, etc US patent and it still works the same. OBTW, let's increase the price of the drug in different countries because there are loop holes.

Yup, over here the medical field likes to gouge people on things such as cancer treatments for sure... the costs that i’ve seen people pay is seriously outrageous imho...
