Wondering if anyone could take a guess on the sex of my festae. Only around 3” so i know it’s tough to tell at this size. I’m personally leaning towards female. Any guesses are appreciated.

Looks female to me, the dark area in the anterior of the dorsal is a female trait,.
Here are some female.s that illustrate that trait.

In both shots above there was a male in the tank.
Below a shot of one of the same females without a male in the tank.

Now for comparison, a male

Note, no dark area in the dorsal, a much steeper head profile, and plethora of spangles the fins and body.

I'm leaning female on this one. The dark front half of the dorsal plus the pelvic fins appear to be a solid dark color. The spangling on the fins and tail should begin dissappearing soon.

Okay. Do you have anything else with the festae?
Jack Dempsey and Electric Blue Acara that are the same size as the festae. And some misc. dither type fish. And my nephews just recently bought me some sort of African cichlid for my birthday. Not quite sure that is going to work out but we will see.
