Festae Feeding Advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, the 4mm sinks. If they still hold off, try presoaking the pellets in the juice of frozen bloodworms. That should change their mind, then slowly wean them off the BW juice, until they are back on 100% dry pellets. Good luck.
I purchased some northfin jumbo 4mm on their Australian website today so hopefully that will arrive soon and he will enjoy it. Maybe I worry myself more then need be

My male is super finicky, the only thing he will reliably eat are algae wafers, sometimes a bit of shrimp, he wont touch blood worms, he seems to like foraging through gravel though, id try sinking pellets
For me I find my Festae more so go after food when it is sinking once it hits the gravel they don’t overly show intrest

New Life Spectrum Large Fish (3mm) would also be a good choice, and it is slow sinking. Just in case you need to mix things up for the male.

I will try the NF jumbo 4mm first and see how it goes then I will try some nls large fish (3mm). I have used the 3mm Thera A before but it doesn’t sink the best

When I fed them both tonight my make and female from what I can see both ate 1/2 a pellet then after that both took the pellets in and spat them out. I am worrying about my make due to him looking thin. Would it be a bad idea to feed them live blackworms that I know they will eat?

Yes, it would be a bad idea. Try a different food, different brand, soak in bloodworm juice, anything but feeding live foods.

I will pick up some love bloodworms today and try soaking their food when I feed them tonight. Do I just defrost 1/2-1 cube in a cup and place the pellets in there for a few minutes. Do I add a little tank water? Sorry for the silly questions

Yes, when starting out soak them for several minutes. They will soften and become more palatable to the fish, especially when they taste the BW juice.
